I teach Colourstrings violin, with use of supplementary materials and repertoire.
Piano lessons are influenced by Kodály, developing the inner hearing by singing, using relative solfa, and Nikhil Dally's "Teaching musicianship at the piano" teaching course, using Colourkeys and Bartok’s Mikrokosmos. Through one-to-one lessons and home practice, I encourage students to develop an understanding of and proficiency in transposition (playing in different keys), harmonising tunes, learning and playing from ear, as well as learning to read and play from musical notation with accuracy, and all of the above while developing a good sense of rhythm, pulse and musicality.
I use Alexander Technique to help develop an awareness of overall use and balance while learning to play violin and piano. The Alexander Technique can help students learn to play their instrument with greater physical ease and enjoyment.
Violin and piano lessons are usually 30, 45 or 60 minutes long, given on a weekly basis.
Fees: £22.50 per 30 minutes, £33.75 per 45 minutes, £45 per 60 minutes
Cancellations: I ask for a minimum of 24 hours notice if cancelling a lesson or the lesson fee is forfeited.
